Supermarkets in Sydney LGAs of concern to close early

Coles and Woolworths will be closing stores early in LGAs that now have to abide by a curfew, following the imposition of new rules for Greater Sydney's extended lockdown.

In a statement online, Coles said "selected stores" in those LGAs would from Monday be closing at 8.30pm or earlier.

The company urged people to check the Coles website for their local store's hours.

Fellow supermarket giant Woolworths is implementing similar measures.

"In line with the updated restrictions, all Woolworths stores in impacted LGAs will close to customers at 8.30pm starting from Monday, 23rd August until further notice," a spokesperson said.

"We have plenty of stock available across our store network and encourage customers to only buy what they need."

Woolworths will continue to offer contact-free pick up and delivery services during the reduced hours.

"It is a challenging time for all of us, and we want to thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we work through this together," the spokesperson said.

Nine.com.au has contacted Aldi to ask if they will be making similar changes.
