Sydney's lockdown expected to be extended beyond this week

Greater Sydney's coronavirus lockdown is expected to be extended beyond July 9.

During her daily update today, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklin said she would make an announcement on when it will end tomorrow.

Tonight, Nine's Political Reporter Chris O'Keefe said: "it does not look like we will not be out of this on Friday".

Cabinet held a crisis meeting this afternoon and discussed the current restrictions are likely to be extended by a week, or significant restrictions will remain.

Pubs and restaurants will remain closed.

Ms Berejiklian also said today that this is the last lockdown she wants to see in NSW, foreshadowing her official announcement tomorrow.

More to come.
