Plover chick cuddled with duckling before being reunited with mother

While plover birds usually don't find much love from Australians, a tiny chick has stolen hearts after being reunited with its mother after it fell down a Gold Coast drain overnight.

Firefighters were called to the Varsity Lakes drain after loud "cheep cheep" sounds could be heard from chick.

Crews were able to pull the fluff ball to safety before it spent the night cuddled up to a duckling and checked by wildlife carers.
